Physics I For Dummies 2 Steven Holzner
This book helps with simplifying terms and basic concepts in a college-prep level physics class. I would not recommend it for AP Physics 1 though. It does not go in depth to tackle challenging class assignments in preparation for the actual AP exam. It would be a good introduction during the summer before taking a physics class but that's it.Product details

Physics I For Dummies 2 Steven Holzner Reviews
The book arrived in a good fashion and condition. However, I should have previewed the book before buying. I might be a little bias, but the book covers basic physics (over a broad spectrum). I would recommend it for high school students who are taking their first physics class. For college students, there are other resources that they can invest instead.
Love it, got it for my daughter and she is very happy to have extra help with this tough subject.
Unlike others may be, I was not new to physics upon reading this text. I needed review for a state certification test, and this book is wonderful going over the basics of Physics 1, in a way much more understandable than Physics textbooks are. The chapters are arranged in a logical order. The examples are a bit cheesy, but somehow make it more fun to read through and understand physics concepts in real life scenarios.
I bought Physics for Dummies I (2nd Edition - 2011) and Physics for Dummies II (2010) thinking one was continuation of the other. Be aware if you are planning to buy them both one is NOT a continuation of the other. If you are looking for continuity between the books you will want to purchase "Physics for Dummies (2006)" and "Physics for Dummies II (2010)".
Case in Point
Physics for Dummies I (2nd edition - 2011) - does not cover DC circuits, Ohms, etc (usually 2nd semester topic), most likely they are putting this topic in the 2nd edition Physics for Dummies II (I would hope).
Physics for Dummies II (2010) - will refer you to "Physics I" for DC circuits, ohms, etc.
Physics for Dummies (2006) - actually has the DC circuits, chapter called "Giving Electrons a Push with Circuits"
A little annoyed but I should have done my research. Hope this helps.
I have enjoyed the presentations in this book. I have never truly understood physics, but with the help of Dummies, I'm getting there!
I made it halfway through physics one without needed any help. Once that midterm hit, the concepts became a bit more complex then I was able to handle. This book basically explains things in a way thats easy and actually realistic and saved my grade. In the book it points out specific concepts and equations to remember (big helper). Honestly I probably wouldn't have passed without the help of this book!
This book is okay, I wish he would explain the formulas a bit more and if Physics explains the natural world, using measurements with math to show things work, WHY don’t they include more examples and images that represent this ‘for the natural world?’ Typical math book, written by typical math people who try to write a book to help non-math people but they speak in math confusing ways, so it’s like blah blah blah. Seems like most higher math tries to justify itself like this book does by examples NO ONE will EVER use in real life, because guess what? We all have access to scientific calculators and we can just use that. The author takes a short cut (from detailing formulas) to state oh you should already know Calculus and Trig... Okay then it’s not a book for dummies is it then?
This book helps with simplifying terms and basic concepts in a college-prep level physics class. I would not recommend it for AP Physics 1 though.
